As you may have heard, we are celebrating our UK Entry at The Independent Hotel Show in London this 16 & 17th of October. To celebrate this big step, we are joining forces with 6 of our amazing partners and are hosting the most exciting hotel technology stand at the show. In this series of interview's we are having a chat with the different founders about what makes their company special, trends in the industry and ofcourse what they appreciate most about our community.
Tell us a bit about you and the idea behind Porter?
My name is Thomas Dieben and I am the founder and Managing Director of BECURIOUS Hotel Internet Marketing. With BECURIOUS we support hotels and hotel collections in web design and with online marketing services. Our aim is to assist hotels in getting as much direct reservations as possible. We do this by developing both bespoke and template-based websites.
As we have the ambition to offer our template-based websites to hotels outside of the Netherlands as well, we are launching Porter during the Independent Hotel Show 2018.
At Porter, we consider every hotel to be distinctive in its own way. We develop premium template-based websites that are fully customisable to the unique characteristics of a hotel. Porter offers a platform which enables hotels to create their own distinguishing look and feel, whilst strengthening their online presence.
Some value propositions from new software companies are saving costs, process optimisation or data integration but hoteliers are often still reluctant to invest in new systems. What is your key reason an independent hotel should invest in your solution?
Porter websites are designed to create inviting presentations for hotels, leaving a memorable impression for the visitor. The seamless connectivity of the booking engine of choice, paired with the possibility to promote direct reservations by offering clear rewards, provides a strong foundation for securing direct bookings. Porter clients can expect to receive reservations via their website and as a result, will be less dependent on external booking sources like OTA’s. This produces a healthy distribution mix.
Looking at the market and your competitors, what would you say is your key differentiator (USP)?
Our method of working gives hoteliers the costs and efficiency benefits of a template-based website, while offering the customisation options and service of a bespoke website. Combine this with our easy-to-use Hotel Content Management Platform, seamless booking engine technology integration and advanced Search Engine Optimisation settings and you have a winning solution for smart hoteliers.
For hoteliers looking to stay on top of the latest in hotel technology, it can be difficult to separate trends from immediate necessities. What would you say are the key aspects to watch out for when selecting new systems?
With regards to hotel websites hoteliers should be able to focus on being a perfect host to their guest. Hoteliers should not be bored with security updates, downtime of their website, booking engine connectivity, complicated and non-relevant KPI’s. In stead they deserve an effective website which they can control thereself, but which is hosted, optimised for both a great performance in Search Engines and a perfect look-to-book ratio. In order to track the performance they should receive insightful reports which are customised to their specific needs.
Tell us more about what is most exciting/interesting about the UK market and more specifically what are you expecting from the Independent Hotel Show?
We are honoured to have the opportunity to launch Porter together with our friends and mutual partners of Hotelhero. We expect this show will be a great way to launch our services to the UK market and hope to introduce our concept to forward thinking British hoteliers.
