Digital PIN door opening in hotels: partnership between CODE2ORDER and Schulte-Schlagbaum AG

Jan 26, 2021 -

The cooperation of CODE2ORDER and Schulte-Schlagbaum AG with the access solution SAG Smart Access enables an automated PIN door opening in the hotel - with the hotel guests' own smartphone, without app download. An important building block for the holistic digital guest journey, contactless service and smart room control in the hotel.

Automated processes in the hotel with digital PIN door opening

Door opening with SAG Smart Access & CODE2ORDER works via a PIN that hotel guests have access to after check-in. The door opening PIN is sent to the guests' smartphone via CODE2ORDER. This unique solution features an intelligent PIN code that can be assigned as a temporary guest code for the precise period of arrival or stay. The complete check-in process including digital PIN door opening can be done via the digital companion for hotel guests (Progressive Web App*) by CODE2ORDER with the own smartphone. Without any app download or login. At the same time, SAG's Smart Access solutions enable demand-oriented intelligent building management. This includes, among other things, individual room control of temperature and lighting scenarios according to the needs of the guest.

Digital solutions in use at ZÄHLWERK Apartments in Pfaffenhofen

At Zählwerk Hotel & Serviced Apartments in Pfaffenhofen, the solutions from CODE2ORDER and SAG have been in use since November last year for contactless check-in on guests' own smartphones, including PIN code dispatch for door opening.

"Our goal is to provide our guests with a digital companion that can be used to provide all desired information and services for the entire guest journey (before, during and after the stay). This includes the possibility of mobile door opening and mobile check-in. In addition, we have reduced our staffing at the reception to a minimum, which is only possible with the help of digital solutions that are well coordinated. However, the biggest benefit of the solution in light of the current situation is that contacts can be reduced to a minimum without losing service quality. At Zählwerk Apartments, every guest can check in on their smartphone, receives a PIN code for their flat and can easily check themselves out on the day of departure. The invoice is of course sent automatically by e-mail. The cooperation with CODE2ORDER and SAG convinced us because the two partners work very well together and the solutions work perfectly in tandem," says Christoph Habermann, Operations Manager, Zählwerk Apartments.

Dirk Heumann, Head of Sales Locking Systems for Doors and Furniture at SAG, also emphasises the synergy effects of this solution: "In the Zählwerk Apartments project in Pfaffenhofen, we have enabled comprehensive process automation for the first time in a partner network with the companies Schulte-Schlagbaum AG for electronic locking systems, CODE2ORDER for the digital guest journey and apaleo as PMS, thus simplifying the work processes to achieve the target of relieving staff. This way, we free up resources for staff to take care of the guest's well-being."

Alexander Haußmann and Patrick Luik, founders and managing directors of CODE2ORDER, on the cooperation

"The goal is to be able to map a fully automated process for check-in and check-out. Because only when all the steps involved are digitalised and networked can hotels use the full potential of digitalisation for themselves. That means saving costs and time, which can then be reinvested in the important things, such as the personal conversation, the welcome and the first contact with the guests. We are particularly pleased about the partnership with SAG. Together we will continue to automate processes and create added value for hotels and hotel guests," says Alexander Haußmann, founder and managing director of CODE2ORDER GmbH.

"The technical implementation of our two teams was exemplary. In terms of both speed and quality, it is an impressive achievement. With the integration of the PIN solution from SAG, we now cover another important building block in the digital guest journey. Here, too, no installation of an app is necessary. We are proud to work with such a renowned partner and look forward to the next joint technical developments," says Patrick Luik, founder and managing director of CODE2ORDER GmbH.

*A Progressive Web App can be called up like a website via URL and at the same time offers offline functions (like an app). The perfect solution to reach your guests on their smartphone/end device without an app download.
