Pros

We have adopted MEWS in our first property back in 2015 and have since moved the entire chain to their PMS solution. Working with a cloud PMS does not compare to a server based solution. Once you are used to not having the database stored on your own server it's a smooth and flexible experience. The training of new staff is very easy, as the system is throughout intuitive and easy to understand. My favorite tools within the system is the flexible reporting (alsmost all reports can be broken down by any filter you can think of and make daily work so much easier than working with pre-setup reports) and the open API with a lot of existing integration partners.

Cons

It is a one size fits all solution. To get any changes made, there is a feedback tool which can be used to make suggestions and upvote ideas of other ho(s)teliers.

Pros

We are one of the first Mews clients and have always been enthusiastic about the product. Not least because it is very intuitive to use - almost like a little Facebook on a business level ;-) The many integrations and the constant further development help us as a company to always be at the cutting edge of technology.

Cons

If it comes to some more difficult support cases, it often takes some time until a solution is offered.

Pros

We are working with Mews for nearly 4 years. So we experienced the effort and progress they made on our own. There was no situation where we wanted to go back. At first, everyone needed to understand, that the logic and focus are very different from the legacy PMS. So trying to put old processes over a new software will make you really unhappy. During these difficult times, we are very proud, that we started the transition to a much more digital guest journey early enough and that we started with Mews Systems as a partner. If we would tell the staff we'll change the PMS, they would not understand why.

Cons

I am in contact with my German-speaking Account Manager on a regular basis, which is great. Sometimes I wish the support would be a bit faster and German speaking as well. New features will be build depending on the wishes of the users. The more users take part in this development process the better.

Pros

Communication between guests and software is well implemented. But that's it! Unfortunately, the negative experiences outweigh the positive ones.

Cons

1. We were offered German support when the contract was concluded. Fact = there is no german support 2. a "3 day on-site training" was agreed with us in the contract. Fact = this was never carried out. Instead there was an "Online University" and a telephone conversation. You have to set up the whole system yourself. Many points, why certain settings have to be chosen during implementation, are not addressed or not explained. The Mews University is definitely not enough to get to know the extensive features. So things are set up incorrectly because the knowledge is simply missing. 3. you can automatically charge credit cards via MEWS Merchant from the PMS. Good idea - but damn expensive. The costs are not completely disclosed when the contract is concluded, but are instead referred to the payment service provider. With us, the costs are twice as expensive. Unfortunately, due to the extreme costs, we won't be using this great feature any more. 4. because we didn't get a proper introduction to the system we had to ask a lot at the online support. The employee was very nice - but also very annoyed. A pity! 5. checking out guests is much more complicated than with our old PMS. You need so many clicks to check out the guests. Takes longer than before! 6. to create company invoices with several rooms is much too complicated. It is also very complicated to enter company bookings into the system. E.g. for a company booking you first have to create the company as a "customer" and then again a "company profile" yourself. Very cumbersome! 7. partly there is only one English help for many topics! 8. reports for housekeeping are very confusing. 9. it is hard to believe that our rooms can no longer be displayed in the timeline in the order 1 - 100. They are now sorted by categories and within these categories unfortunately also not sorted by numbers but by floors... 10. bills look catastrophic The hotel logo is only displayed very small. The address of the guest is shown on the right side and the address of the hotel on the left side. Should one have to send an invoice. the standard window envelopes are no longer possible. invoice itself very confusing! 11. you can send an invoice directly from MEWS. Unfortunately only to the email address of the guest. If a company or another colleague pays, the invoice must be sent manually as PDF... There are many more points, which are unfortunately not optimal. It simply annoys us that many things were promised but not kept. We are seriously considering to switch back to the old PMS - if the circumstances do not improve! Good approaches but still a lot of air to the top!

Pros

It is a strong product but implementation service is non-existant. Only one person that will tell you to watch the videos, but won't answer any question.

Cons

Very different from what they promise from what you get. In the demo you see a very strong solution which it is indeed. But the problem comes when you must build it all by yourself. I don't mean you have to put the details, rates, no, you must do every little detail and every little thing, if you make a mistake your implementation person won't check. why would she? If the error comes up later, and you get a lot of wrong reservations and wrong rates, they won't blink an eye is your fault. Do you want to solve it? Then she will tell you again to watch the videos. It took me 10 days, receiving the wrong reservations. They have a lot of implementations but not support on that , because "this is not their job" so unless you are yourself an IT with a lot of free time and patience to set up the program it is not for you.
